Rolling Stock Design Engineering

Rolling Stock Design Engineering course, one of the subfields in master railway engineering is a taught-research course composed of main courses, advanced courses, innovation laboratory and research dissertation. Purpose of the course is to train talented graduates who will have the ability to design, maintain and utilize rail vehicles

The main interested fields in Rolling stock are; fatigue in railway, Nonlinear and Random vibration, Noise and Acoustics, Dynamics of railway vehicles, structural analysis, Aerodynamic of high-speed train and tunnel ventilation.

They can also carry out scientific and industrial research and make solutions to increase the efficiency of the existing rail system and also help to identify and transfer knowledge and techniques to the industrial system of the country. Graduates of the course can work at universities, railway of the Islamic Republic of Iran, urban railway companies, rail vehicle manufacturers, and engineering consulting firms in the field of rail transportation.

Importance:

Although the science of Rolling Stock Engineering is often understood through practice, the training should be based on academic methods along with acquaintance with advanced technologies. Therefore, self-sufficiency in railway industry as one of the serious goals of Islamic Republic of Iran requires training technical and dedicated experts to design, construct, operate and maintain the rail vehicles.
