Meeting between SRE and Representatives of Afghanistan Railways
On Monday 24th October, a meeting was held between dean of School of Railway Engineering, associate deans of education and research, representatives from department of International Affairs- Iranian Railways, Office of International Cooperation- IUST, two managers from the railways of Afghanistan and representative of Afghanistan Embassy in Tehran. Khaf-Haratrailway line will be operational in the near future which will connect Iran to Afghanistan by rail for the first time and as the railway industry is newly established in Afghanistan there is great need for education in this field. Offering short term courses, virtual courses (online learning), education at bachelor and master levels, possibility of using scholarships were the main topics of negotiations. Possible quadrilateral cooperation between Iran University of Science and Technology, Kabul Polytechnic University, Iranian Railways and Afghanistan railways were also discussed and draft of an MOU is to be prepared for delivering an action plan. |
